Guest Post by Caridad PiñeiroThank you so much for having me with you today to share my new paranormal romance release, THE LOST, which is the first book in the Sin Hunter series.
I had a great time developing the mythology for the Sin Hunters as well as checking out all the real locations where the novels will be set. If you want to see some of those locations, you can visit my Facebook Fan page at http://www.facebook.com/caridad.author.
I’m a history fan and I used a lot of that to create the mythology for the Hunters. For example, I had read a book about the conquest of Mexico and Peru and I used what happened to the indigenous people in the Americas when the Conquistadors landed to develop the background for the Hunters. There were lots of illnesses to which the native populations didn’t have immunities.
When the Hunters minge amongst the humans who were sickened by the Conquistadors, the Hunters come down with smallpox and that changes their race forever. The Hunters are a race of energy gatherers and because of the smallpox, some of the Hunters lose their abilities to take in energy. That creates a race of Light and Shadow Hunters who will find themselves in a civil war.
You see the first hints of that civil war in THE LOST because Adam has “lost” his parents as a result of a battle between Light and Shadow Hunters. Adam has amazing powers and is one of the Light Hunters. In THE LOST, both Light and Shadow Hunters will try to capture Adam, creating conflict in his life just when he has finally found a woman who makes him feel more human than he ever imagined.
Bobbie Carrera is that woman and she is a unique individual. A Marine hero home from battle, Bobbie is physically and emotionally wounded, but as much as she doesn’t want to be in another war, she will not run from danger to the man she is coming to love.
I hope you’ve liked that behind the scenes look at THE LOST. Thanks again for having me here!
